Automation Engineer

  • Design, develop, maintain and implement control systems (hardware & software) to improve production times, quality, equipment performance, energy consumption, down-time reduction, and process automation
  • Obtain complete understanding of company process control systems and their impact on the production line beginning with scrap from raw materials to a finished product
  • Make recommendations for development action; analyze, modify and improve programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI)
  • Design and monitor performance indicators, create the necessary bridges between control site and company information systems
  • Provide on-going maintenance support and resolution of process control system problems, including taking ownership of such problems to completion
  • Project management responsibilities


  • 4+ years of maintenance supervision/controls/Automation engineering experience; required. Bachelor's Degree is a plus
  • Must have experience in an automated, high-speed packaging operation; food or consumer goods manufacturing is preferred
  • Advanced technical skills in electrical repair: PLCs, instrumentation, engineering, hydraulics, motors, AC/DC, 480 volts, VFD's, robotics.
  • Experience working with Allen-Bradley PLC, drives, HMI software and hardware and ability to read equipment drawings (hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, inventory and scheduling software, preferred.
  • Able to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level electrical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
